Target Information
Estrogen-related receptor alpha 1 (ERRα, ERR1) is an orphan member of the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily. ERR family members share a highly conserved DNA-binding domain with 68% amino acid identity to the estrogen receptor. ERRα binds to the ERRα response element (ERRE) containing a consensus half-site (5'-tnaaggtca-3') and regulates the medium-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase (MCAD) promoter. ERR1 acts as a metabolic regulator and is expressed predominantly in tissues that metabolize fatty acids. The corresponding gene is NR3B1.
