Target Information
Anti-sperm antibodies have been correlated with unexplained infertility, suggesting their role in blocking fertilization. The protein encoded by the SPAG8 gene is recognized by sperm agglutinating antibodies from infertile women and is localized in germ cells of the testis throughout spermatogenesis, as well as in the acrosomal region of mature spermatozoa. Alternatively spliced variants encoding different isoforms have been described, with two full-length sequences determined.
