Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family. PTPs are signaling molecules that regulate various cellular processes such as cell growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation.
This PTP has:
- An extracellular region
- A single transmembrane region
- A single intracytoplasmic catalytic domain
It represents a receptor-type PTP. The extracellular region includes eight fibronectin type III-like repeats and multiple N-glycosylation sites. Expression is primarily in brain and liver, lower in heart and stomach, and observed in several cancer cell lines but not in corresponding normal tissues.
