Target Information
APOL1 is a secreted high-density lipoprotein that binds to apolipoprotein A-I, a major apoprotein of HDL. It plays a role in the formation of cholesteryl esters in plasma and promotes cholesterol efflux from cells.
This apolipoprotein L family member may participate in lipid exchange and transport throughout the body, as well as in reverse cholesterol transport from peripheral cells to the liver.
