Iduronate-2-sulfatase는 리소좀 내에서 heparan sulfate와 dermatan sulfate의 분해에 필수적인 효소입니다. X 염색체상의 이 유전자의 돌연변이는 효소 결핍을 초래하여 Hunter Syndrome(Mucopolysaccharidosis Type II)을 유발합니다. 이 효소는 인간 arylsulfatases A, B, C 및 glucosamine-6-sulfatase와 높은 서열 유사성을 가지며, 다양한 단백질 아이소폼을 암호화하는 여러 스플라이싱 변이체가 보고되었습니다.
