Fibromodulin은 소형 간질 프로테오글리칸 계열의 단백질로, 루신 반복 서열과 4개의 케라탄 황산 사슬을 포함합니다. Type I 및 Type II collagen fibrils과 상호작용하여 세포외기질의 형성에 관여하며, in vitro에서 collagen 섬유 형성을 억제할 수 있습니다. 또한 TGF-beta를 세포외기질에 결합시켜 그 활성을 조절하는 역할을 할 수 있습니다.
