Target Information
Septin 2 is a filament-forming cytoskeletal GTPase required for normal organization of the actin cytoskeleton. It contributes to the biogenesis of polarized columnar-shaped epithelium by maintaining polyglutamylated microtubules and impeding MAP4 binding to tubulin. Septin 2 plays essential roles in mitosis progression, chromosome congression, anaphase chromosome segregation, spindle elongation, ciliogenesis, and collective cell movements.
