TRAIL-R1 (CD261, DR4)는 type I transmembrane 단백질로, TRAIL receptor 1이라고도 불립니다. 이 DR4 death receptor의 ligand는 TNF 패밀리에 속하는 TRAIL로 확인되었습니다. DR4는 Fas, TNFR1 등과 같이 다양한 세포와 조직에서 apoptosis와 NF-kappaB 활성화를 매개합니다. Apoptosis는 정상적인 세포 분화 및 다세포 생물의 발달에 필수적인 프로그램된 세포 사멸 과정입니다.
