Target Information
B cell linker protein (BLNK) is encoded by the Blnk gene located on chromosome 10 in humans. Also known as SLP-65 (Src homology 2 domain-containing leukocyte protein of 65 kDa), BLNK acts as an adaptor protein in the B cell receptor signaling cascade. Studies show that B cell development is impaired in the absence of BLNK. BLNK undergoes tyrosine phosphorylation by Syk, a B cell receptor–activated kinase, providing a platform for interaction with signaling intermediaries such as Vav GEF and Grb2.
