Target Information
Interleukin 12A (IL-12A) is a signaling cytokine belonging to the Interleukin-6 superfamily. It encodes the 35 kDa alpha subunit of IL-12, a heterodimeric cytokine with diverse biological functions. IL-12A acts as a growth factor for activated T and NK cells, enhancing NK and lymphokine-activated killer cell activity. It stimulates IFN-γ production in PBMCs and contributes to both Th1 and Th2 cell differentiation. IL-12A also positively regulates tyrosine phosphorylation of Stat4 protein and requires nitric oxide synthase 2A for innate immune signaling. Together with EBI3, IL-12A forms interleukin-35 (IL-35), produced by regulatory T cells and essential for suppressive activity.
