Target Information
MAP2K2 (MEK2) is a dual specificity serine/threonine kinase involved in mitogen growth factor signal transduction. MEK2 (MAPKK2) activates ERK1/2 and MAPK enzymes by phosphorylating both residues within the threonine/glutamate/tyrosine (TEY) motif of the activation loop.
MEK1 and MEK2 are activated by dual phosphorylation at serine 218 and 222. Threonine 292 of MEK1 is phosphorylated by ERK2, serving as a negative feedback mechanism that suppresses MEK1 activation.
