Target Information

AMPK (A1/B1/G2) is a member of the AMPK family, heterotrimeric proteins consisting of an alpha catalytic subunit and non-catalytic beta and gamma subunits.
AMPKs are key energy-sensing enzymes that monitor cellular energy status, particularly under stress conditions. They regulate fatty acid and cholesterol synthesis by controlling rate-limiting enzymes such as acetyl-CoA carboxylase and hydroxy beta-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase.
The beta subunit may positively regulate AMPK activity and is highly expressed in skeletal muscle.
