The Myeloperoxidase (MPO) Colorimetric Assay Kit is a highly reliable and sensitive assay designed for the quantitative measurement of MPO in serum, plasma, milk, and animal tissue. MPO is an enzyme that belongs to the heme peroxidase family and is found in various immune cells, particularly neutrophils. It plays a crucial role in the innate immune response and is involved in host defense mechanisms against pathogens. MPO is closely related to the pathogenesis of diseases such as cardiovascular disease, lung injury, and cancer.

In this assay MPO reduces hydrogen peroxide to a complex that reacts with o-dianisidine to produce a yellow product that has a maximum absorption peak at 460 nm, which can be used to measure the amount of MPO present.
