Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

A BLAST analysis suggests reactivity with human, sheep, rabbit, canine, bovine, pig, guinea pig, and monkey based on 100% sequence homology. This antibody will not react with AB40. Cross-reactivity with Beta Amyloid from other sources has not been determined.

Target Information

Amyloid beta peptide (Abeta/Beta-amyloid) is the major constituent of amyloid plaques in the brains of individuals afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease. Abeta peptide is 40–43 amino acids long and generated from the beta-amyloid precursor protein (beta APP) through sequential cleavage by beta-secretase (BACE) and gamma-secretase. Gamma-secretase, a multi-subunit complex containing presenilin-1 and 2, cleaves the carboxyl-terminal domain of beta APP to generate the amyloid beta peptide. Abeta is a filamentous extracellular protein found in amyloid cores, neuritic plaques, and neurofibrillary tangles. Beta amyloid deposits are associated with Alzheimer’s disease, Lewy body dementia, Down’s syndrome, cerebral amyloid angiopathy, and other amyloidoses.
