Preparation:
Produced from sera of goats immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human IL-6. Anti-Human IL-6-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and subsequently biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
For detection of Human IL-6 using sandwich ELISA (100 µL/well antibody solution), use at 0.25–1.0 µg/mL. When used with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Human IL-6 (500-P26G) as a capture antibody, it enables detection of 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Human IL-6.

Western Blot:
For detection of Human IL-6 by Western Blot, use at 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. In conjunction with compatible secondary reagents, detection limit is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

IL-6 encodes a cytokine involved in inflammation and B cell maturation. It acts as an endogenous pyrogen, inducing fever in autoimmune or infectious conditions. IL-6 is expressed at sites of acute and chronic inflammation, secreted into serum, and activates transcriptional inflammatory responses through the interleukin 6 receptor (IL-6Rα).
Elevated IL-6 levels are associated with inflammatory diseases such as diabetes mellitus, systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, Kaposi sarcoma, and rheumatoid arthritis. Increased IL-6 expression has also been observed in viral infections, including COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2 infection).
