Target Information

The cysteinyl leukotrienes (LTC4, LTD4, and LTE4) are important mediators of human bronchial asthma. Pharmacologic studies have shown that cysteinyl leukotrienes activate at least two receptors: CysLTR1 and CysLTR2.
CysLTR1 is a G protein-coupled receptor, and its activation by LTD4 results in smooth muscle contraction and proliferation, edema, eosinophil migration, and damage to the mucus layer in the lung.
