PIK3CG (p110 gamma)는 class IB phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase 계열의 단일 구성원으로, class IA 계열과 함께 세포 내 신호전달에 중요한 이차전령 PIP2를 생성합니다. Class IA 효소가 receptor tyrosine kinase 경로를 따라 신호를 전달하는 반면, PIK3CG는 주로 GPCR을 통해 신호를 전달합니다. 이 유전자 산물은 phosphoinositides를 inositol ring의 3-hydroxyl 그룹에 인산화하는 효소이며, E-cadherin 매개 세포-세포 접착 등 다양한 세포 외 신호 조절에 관여합니다. 또한 NK 세포의 세포독성 조절에 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 알려져 있으며, 해당 유전자는 골수성 백혈병에서 흔히 결손되는 염색체 7의 영역에 위치합니다.
