Target Information
E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase that plays a key role in innate antiviral immunity. In response to pathogen- and host-derived double-stranded DNA (dsDNA), TRIM56 targets STING1 to Lys-63-linked ubiquitination, promoting its homodimerization—a step required for type I interferon (IFN-β) production. Independently of its E3 ligase activity, it acts as a positive regulator of TLR3 signaling, enhancing dsRNA-induced expression of interferon-stimulated genes (e.g., ISG15, IFIT1, CXCL10, OASL, CCL5). Contributes to antiviral state establishment and chemokine induction following hepatitis C virus infection. [UniProt]
