This antibody is predicted to react with non-human primate, rabbit, and rat based on sequence homology.
Intact IgG appears on a non-reducing gel as a ~150 kDa band, and upon reduction generates a ~25 kDa light chain band and a ~50 kDa heavy chain.

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Target Information

Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1 beta) is a proinflammatory cytokine expressed by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. It is synthesized as a 31 kDa inactive pro-form that accumulates in the cytosol. Activation of inflammasomes triggers cleavage by caspase-1 into the active 17 kDa form.

IL-1 beta lacks a signal sequence for classical secretion and is released via an alternate mechanism. It signals through IL-1RI and IL-1RII receptors, shared with IL-1 alpha. Its activity is moderated by IL-1 Receptor Antagonist (IL-1RA).

IL-1 beta plays a key role in innate host defense by inducing other proinflammatory cytokines and acute-phase responses. Elevated levels are associated with chronic inflammatory conditions, and IL-1 beta neutralizing antibodies have potential therapeutic value.
