Target Information
EpoR encodes the erythropoietin receptor, a member of the cytokine receptor family. When erythropoietin binds to this receptor, it activates Jak2 tyrosine kinase and downstream signaling pathways, including Ras/MAP kinase, PI3K, and STAT transcription factors. This activation supports erythroid cell survival.
Defects in this gene may lead to erythroleukemia and familial erythrocytosis, and dysregulation can influence tumor growth. Multiple transcript variants exist due to alternative splicing.
Diseases associated with EPOR include Erythrocytosis, Familial, 1 and Erythroleukemia.
