Target Information
The CDC27 protein shares strong similarity with Saccharomyces cerevisiae Cdc27 and Schizosaccharomyces pombe nuc2. It is a component of the anaphase-promoting complex (APC), composed of eight conserved subunits in eukaryotic cells. APC catalyzes the formation of cyclin B-ubiquitin conjugates responsible for ubiquitin-mediated degradation of B-type cyclins. CDC27 contains TPR domains crucial for protein-protein interactions and interacts with mitotic checkpoint proteins such as Mad2, p55CDC, and BUBR1, suggesting a role in mitosis timing regulation. Alternative splicing generates multiple isoforms.
