Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene shares strong similarity with Saccharomyces cerevisiae protein Cdc27 and the gene product of Schizosaccharomyces pombe nuc2.
This protein is a component of the anaphase-promoting complex (APC), composed of eight subunits and highly conserved in eukaryotic cells.
APC catalyzes the formation of cyclin B-ubiquitin conjugate responsible for ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis of B-type cyclins.
CDC27 and other APC members contain the TPR (tetratricopeptide repeat) domain, important for protein-protein interaction.
It interacts with mitotic checkpoint proteins including Mad2, p55CDC, and BUBR1, suggesting involvement in mitosis timing control.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been reported.
