Target Information

Formin-like protein 2 (FMNL2) is a cytoplasmic phosphoprotein belonging to the formin homology domain-containing protein family. It contains a DAD (diaphanous autoregulatory domain), FH2 (formin homology 2) domain, and GBD/FH3 (Rho GTPase-binding/formin homology 3) domain. Although its exact function remains unclear, FMNL2 is suggested to play a role in the Wnt signaling pathway.

Formin-related proteins are important in morphogenesis, cytokinesis, and cell polarity. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants have been reported, though their full-length structures are not fully determined. FMNL2 has been associated with diffuse-type gastric cancer, breast cancer, chondrosarcoma, melanoma, and glioblastoma. It may contribute to polarity control, invasion, migration, or metastasis through actin filament nucleation and may be regulated by Rho family GTPases.
