Target Information

CD25 (IL-2 receptor alpha chain, IL2RA) is a cytokine receptor involved in the proliferation of T and B lymphocytes.
The IL2RA forms part of a heterotrimeric receptor complex with IL2RB and IL2RG, creating a high-affinity IL-2 receptor.
Homodimeric IL2RA chains form low-affinity receptors, while IL2RB homodimers form medium-affinity receptors.
IL2 expression in mature thymocytes is monoallelic, representing a unique regulatory mechanism for gene expression.
IL2, primarily produced by mature T cells, functions as a growth and differentiation factor and regulates cell death.
It stimulates B cell proliferation, enhances NK cell activity, and inhibits granulocyte macrophage colony formation.
Disruption of the corresponding gene in mice leads to ulcerative colitis-like disease, suggesting a role in immune response.
Mutations in this gene are associated with interleukin-2 receptor alpha deficiency.
