Target Information
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and may serve as biomarkers for cancer and other diseases.
KLK8, a member of the kallikrein subfamily located on chromosome 19, may be involved in proteolytic cascades in the skin and has potential as a biomarker for ovarian cancer.
Alternate splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
