Target Information
MAP3K5 (ASK1) is a serine/threonine kinase abundantly expressed in human heart and pancreas. It is activated in response to extracellular stimuli such as cytokines, growth factors, and environmental stress. ASK1 (also known as MAPKKK5) activates MKK4 and MKK6, leading to activation of JNK and p38 MAP kinases. ASK1 interacts with TRAF family members and Daxx in TNFR and Fas signaling pathways. Overexpression induces apoptosis, while inactive forms inhibit TNF-α-induced apoptosis. ASK1 is expressed in various human and mouse tissues.
