Target Information
TYW2, also known as TRM12, is an enzyme involved in the wybutosine-tRNA (Phe) biosynthesis pathway. Wybutosine (yW) is a hypermodified guanosine located adjacent to the anticodon of phenylalanine tRNA and stabilizes codon-anticodon interactions during ribosomal decoding.
TYW2 participates in a multistep enzymatic reaction that ensures correct translation through stabilization of codon-anticodon base-pairing.
TYW2 amplification was observed in 7 of 8 breast cancer cell lines, and qPCR analysis of 30 breast tumors showed overexpression (>2-fold) in 26 samples, suggesting a potential role in breast cancer.
