Target Information
Tubulin family members are globular proteins that play essential roles in microtubule assembly. Microtubules are key structural components involved in mitosis, cytokinesis, and vesicle transport.
TPPP (Tubulin polymerization-promoting protein), also known as p24 or p25, is a 219-amino acid protein localized in the perinuclear region of the cytoplasm. It may form dimers and promote tubulin polymerization into double-walled tubules or stabilized structures.
Overexpression of TPPP can disrupt mitotic spindle formation and nuclear envelope breakdown. TPPP is phosphorylated by TPK II and encoded by a gene on human chromosome 5. It is implicated in microtubule bundling, stabilization, and maintenance of cytoskeletal integrity.
