THAP6 (THAP domain-containing protein 6)은 222개의 아미노산으로 구성된 단백질로, 하나의 THAP-type zinc finger를 포함하며 두 가지 alternative splicing isoform이 존재합니다.
THAP6 유전자는 약 36,528 염기로 구성되어 있으며 인간 염색체 4q21.1에 위치합니다. 염색체 4는 인간 유전체의 약 6%를 차지하며 약 900개의 유전자를 포함합니다.
이 염색체에는 Huntington’s disease와 관련된 Huntingtin 유전자, FGFR-3 (thanatophoric dwarfism, achondroplasia 등과 연관), Ellis-van Creveld syndrome, methylmalonic acidemia, polycystic kidney disease 관련 유전자 등이 존재합니다.
