Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD54 (ICAM-1), an 85–110 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein that acts as a receptor for rhinovirus. ICAM-1 is expressed on activated endothelial cells, T and B lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages, granulocytes, and dendritic cells. Expression is upregulated upon activation.
Target Information
ICAM-1 (CD54) is an 85–110 kDa single-chain type I integral membrane glycoprotein with five immunoglobulin superfamily repeats, a transmembrane region, and a cytoplasmic domain. It has seven potential N-linked glycosylation sites and shares sequence homology with ICAM-2 and ICAM-3. ICAM-1 binds to integrins such as CD11a/CD18 (LFA-1) and CD11b/CD18 (Mac-1), and serves as a receptor for rhinovirus. Expression occurs on activated endothelial cells, fibroblasts, epithelial cells, chondrocytes, and various immune cells, increasing under inflammatory conditions. Soluble ICAM-1 is detectable in plasma and elevated in inflammatory syndromes.
