Target Information
P5 (PDIA6) is a novel human protein with peptide-binding and chaperone activity specific to certain proteins. It shares structural similarities with PDI, an endoplasmic reticulum (ER) protein. The deduced sequence includes the ER retention signal KDEL and two CXXC-like motifs responsible for oxidoreductase activity—one at each terminus. The N-terminal CXXC motif is more critical for isomerase activity. Unlike other PDI-like proteins, P5 is not stress-inducible.
