Target Information
This gene belongs to the leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor (LIR) family, located in the 19q13.4 region. The encoded protein is a subfamily B receptor containing extracellular immunoglobulin domains, a transmembrane domain, and cytoplasmic immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIMs).
It is expressed on immune cells, binding MHC class I molecules on antigen-presenting cells to transduce inhibitory signals that regulate immune response.
The receptor also contributes to antigen capture and presentation, controlling inflammation and cytotoxicity to maintain immune balance.
Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
