Target Information
The FBXO21 gene encodes a member of the F-box protein family, characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid F-box motif. These proteins are components of the SCF (SKP1–Cullin–F-box) ubiquitin ligase complex, functioning in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination.
F-box proteins are classified into three groups:
- Fbws: Contain WD-40 domains
- Fbls: Contain leucine-rich repeats
- Fbxs: Contain other interaction modules or no recognizable motifs
FBXO21 belongs to the Fbxs class. Alternative splicing generates two transcript variants.
