Product Specific Information
The target sequence has 90% sequence homology with mouse.
Target Information
The Myogenic determination gene (MyoD) was first identified by its ability to convert embryonic mouse fibroblast cells into muscle cells. Forced expression of MyoD (human homolog myf3) in various normal and neoplastic cells can induce muscle cell formation or activate muscle-specific genes that are otherwise transcriptionally silent.
The regulatory domain of the MyoD gene product includes a 70 amino acid region containing:
- A basic DNA-binding motif
- A helix-loop-helix (HLH) dimerization motif
Three additional genes share sequence homology with MyoD in the basic HLH domain:
- myf5
- myogenin (human homolog myf4)
- myf6 (also known as MRF4 or herculin)
For Research Use Only.
Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
