ADAMTS-1은 ADAMTS (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motif) 단백질 계열의 구성원으로, 여러 독특한 단백질 모듈을 공유합니다. 이 계열의 단백질은 propeptide 영역, metalloproteinase 도메인, disintegrin-like 도메인, thrombospondin type 1 (TS) 모티프를 포함합니다.
ADAMTS-1은 두 개의 disintegrin 루프와 세 개의 C-말단 TS 모티프를 포함하며, 항혈관신생(anti-angiogenic) 활성을 가집니다. 이 유전자의 발현은 염증성 과정 및 암 악액질(cancer cachexia)의 발달과 관련될 수 있습니다. 정상적인 성장, 생식능, 기관 형태 및 기능 유지에 필요할 것으로 추정됩니다.
