Target Information
Eukaryotic initiation factor 2B (EIF2B), essential for protein synthesis, acts as a GTP exchange factor composed of five different subunits. The encoded protein is the delta subunit. Mutations in this gene can cause leukoencephalopathy with vanishing white matter (VWM) and ovarioleukodystrophy. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
