Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of HER4 only when phosphorylated at Tyr984.

Target Information

ERBB4 (HER4) is a member of the type I receptor protein tyrosine kinase subfamily, which includes EGFR, ERBB2, and ERBB3. It binds and is activated by neuregulins and other ligands, inducing various cellular responses such as mitogenesis and differentiation.
ErbB4 functions as a receptor for heregulin and mediates ligand-stimulated tyrosine phosphorylation. It plays a central role in signal transduction, regulating cellular metabolism, transcription, cell cycle progression, cytoskeletal rearrangement, cell movement, apoptosis, and differentiation.

ERBB4 is highly expressed in several breast carcinoma cell lines (T47-D, MDA-MB-453, BT-474, H3396) and in normal tissues such as skeletal muscle, heart, pituitary, brain, and cerebellum. Expression is lower or absent in some breast tumor lines (MDA-MB-231, MDA-MB-157, MDA-MB-468, SKBR-3). Elevated levels have been observed in certain human tumor cell lines, suggesting a potential role in malignancy.
