Invitrogen™ IL-6 Human ProcartaPlex™ Simplex Kit

The Human IL-6 Simplex ProcartaPlex Kit measures IL-6 protein and can be combined with other Simplex kits to create a custom multiplex panel using Luminex xMAP technology for protein detection and quantitation.
When combining multiple Simplex kits (not using a pre-configured Multiplex Panel), only one buffer kit (sold separately) is required per assay plate regardless of plex size.

About ProcartaPlex Assays for the Luminex Platform

ProcartaPlex immunoassays are based on sandwich ELISA principles, using two highly specific antibodies binding to different epitopes of a protein to simultaneously quantitate multiple targets using a Luminex instrument.
These assays require as little as 25 μL of plasma or serum, or 50 μL of cell culture supernatant, and yield analyzed results within four hours.

ProcartaPlex assays utilize Luminex xMAP (multianalyte profiling) technology for simultaneous detection and quantitation of up to 80 protein targets in a single small-volume sample.
Luminex beads are internally dyed with specific proportions of red and infrared fluorophores, creating unique spectral signatures detectable by Luminex instruments (e.g., Luminex 200, FLEXMAP 3D, MAGPIX).
Each bead is conjugated with antibodies specific for a single target protein, enabling multiplexed detection using biotinylated antibodies and streptavidin–R-phycoerythrin (RPE).

Unlike traditional ELISA, the capture antibody in ProcartaPlex assays is conjugated to a bead, allowing free-floating reagents in solution.
Detection is achieved using dual-laser Luminex systems—one laser identifies bead signatures, and the other quantifies RPE fluorescence proportional to protein concentration.
This enables profiling of more target proteins using less sample in the same time as a standard ELISA.

ProcartaPlex multiplex panels are available for six species (human, mouse, rat, nonhuman primate, porcine, and canine).
