TYRP1 유전자는 티로시나제 패밀리에 속하는 멜라노좀 효소를 암호화하며, 멜라닌 생합성 경로에서 중요한 역할을 합니다.
이 유전자의 결함은 적색 안피부 백색증(rufous oculocutaneous albinism) 및 안피부 백색증 III형(oculocutaneous albinism type III)의 원인이 됩니다.
