Target Information
CD79a is a disulphide-linked heterodimer that includes the B29 (CD79b) polypeptide. It is a B lymphocyte antigen receptor component associated with Ig-alpha and Ig-beta, essential for B-cell receptor expression and function. CD79a appears at the pre-B cell stage and persists through to the plasma cell stage, where it is found intracellularly. It is expressed in most precursor B-cell acute leukemias, B-cell lines, B-cell lymphomas, and some myelomas, but is absent in myeloid or T-cell lines. Diseases associated with CD79a include Agammaglobulinemia 3 and Agammaglobulinemia, Non-Bruton type.
