Target Information
DENND5A (DENN domain-containing protein 5A) is a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) that activates RAB6A and RAB39A/RAB39B. It facilitates GDP-to-GTP exchange, converting inactive GDP-bound Rab proteins into their active GTP form.
DENND5A also plays a role in the negative regulation of neurite outgrowth. Mutations in this gene can lead to epileptic encephalopathy, early infantile, type 49 (EIEE49).
