Target Information
Arginyl-tRNA-protein transferase (ATE1), also known as arginyltransferase 1, belongs to the R-transferase family of proteins. It mediates posttranslational conjugation of arginine to N-terminal aspartate-, glutamate-, and possibly cystine-containing substrates, facilitating protein degradation via the ubiquitin pathway.
ATE1 is a 518 amino acid monomeric protein that can localize to the cytoplasm and/or nucleus. Alternative splicing produces two distinct isoforms.
