Rabbit anti-Histone H4 (Ac5) antibody recognizes Histone H4 when acetylated at lysine 5.
Target Information
Histones are basic nuclear proteins responsible for the nucleosome structure of chromosomal fiber in eukaryotes. Two molecules each of H2A, H2B, H3, and H4 form an octamer around which approximately 146 bp of DNA is wrapped, forming nucleosomes. The linker histone H1 interacts with linker DNA between nucleosomes and aids in chromatin compaction.
The histone H4 gene is intronless, encoding a member of the histone H4 family. Transcripts lack polyA tails but contain a palindromic termination element. This gene is located in the large histone gene cluster on chromosome 6.
