Target Information
The MYBPC2 gene belongs to the myosin-binding protein C family, which includes fast-, slow-, and cardiac-type isoforms. These proteins are myosin-associated and located in the C region of A bands in striated muscle. MYBPC2 encodes the fast-type isoform.
Mutations in slow-type and cardiac-type isoforms are associated with distal arthrogryposis type 1 and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. MYBPC2-related diseases include Lethal Congenital Contracture Syndrome 4 and Nemaline Myopathy 9.
