Target Information
The EXOC5 protein is a component of the exocyst complex, a multi-protein complex essential for targeting exocytic vesicles to specific docking sites on the plasma membrane. Although best characterized in yeast, the exocyst complex and its functions are highly conserved in higher eukaryotes. The complex interacts with actin cytoskeletal remodeling and vesicle transport machinery and is essential for the biogenesis of epithelial cell surface polarity.
