Target Information
Zinc-finger proteins contain DNA-binding domains and are involved in transcriptional activation or repression. Most zinc-finger proteins have a Krueppel-type DNA-binding domain and a KRAB domain, which interacts with KAP1 to recruit histone-modifying proteins.
ZSCAN22 (zinc finger and SCAN domain-containing protein 22), also known as HKR2 or ZNF50, is a 491 amino acid nuclear protein belonging to the Krueppel C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family. It contains eight C2H2-type zinc fingers and one SCAN box domain, may play a role in transcriptional regulation, and is phosphorylated upon DNA damage.
