CDK5는 Cyclin-Dependent Kinase 계열에 속하며, 주로 포유류의 뇌에서 많이 발현됩니다. 활성형 CDK5는 CDK5와 35 kDa 뇌 특이적 단백질에서 유래한 25 kDa 단백질이 결합된 이합체로, 효소 활성에 필수적입니다. CDK5는 신경 발달 중 뉴런 이동의 핵심 조절자로 알려져 있으며, 세포 부착, 이동성, 시냅스 가소성 및 약물 중독 등 다양한 세포 과정의 조절에 관여합니다.
