Target Information
LHCGR encodes the receptor for both luteinizing hormone and choriogonadotropin. It belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor family (FSH/LSH/TSH superfamily) and functions as a gonadotropin receptor. It regulates the development and function of Leydig cells in males and plays a role in male secondary sexual characteristic development. Mutations in this receptor can result in disorders such as familial male precocious puberty and male pseudohermaphroditism.
