Target Information
A-kinase anchor proteins (AKAPs) are a group of structurally diverse proteins that bind to the regulatory subunit of protein kinase A (PKA), confining the holoenzyme to specific cellular locations. The AKAP6 gene encodes a member of this family, highly expressed in various brain regions, cardiac, and skeletal muscle. It is localized to the sarcoplasmic reticulum and nuclear membrane, anchoring PKA to these structures.
