Product Specific Information
Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Prohibitin is encoded by an evolutionarily conserved gene expressed ubiquitously. It is thought to negatively regulate cell proliferation and may act as a tumor suppressor.
Mutations in PHB have been linked to sporadic breast cancer. Prohibitin is expressed as two transcripts with varying lengths of the 3′ untranslated region. The longer transcript is present at higher levels in proliferating tissues and cells, suggesting a regulatory role as a trans-acting RNA.
